Earlier on Monday, Rosh Chodesh Shevat, YWN-ISRAEL reported extensive damage resulted from the fire that erupted in the office of the B’Tselem Human Rights Organization in the Makor Chaim neighborhood of the city on Sunday night.

While no one actually said it, all eyes were turned right as it was assumed the attack was the work of right-wing extremists who perpetrated another price tag attack.

However, after fire marshals have worked the scene of the blaze, they opine the likely cause was an electrical short circuit. However, a final determination is yet to be made but officials are no longer operating under the premise the blaze was the result of arson.

As was reported earlier, also located on the first floor of the building housing B’Tselem are the Israel Airports Authority and the Hand-to-Hand organization, which stands behind the Bilingual School in the capital, a school that serves a combined Jewish and Arab population. That school has already been targeted in an arson attack. The Jewish defendants were determined to have acted on racist motives and they have been convicted and sentenced to prison.
