Chief Rabbi Lau Comments on Disgraceful Use of Tiveria Shul to Massage Marathon Runners

lauMany were outraged upon viewing the video showing runners in last Friday’s Tiveria marathon were given massages in the shul of the Leonardo Hotel in the city.

When seeking to determine who gave permission to use a shul for such a purpose, everyone remained tight lipped. Hotel officials are unwilling to comment, perhaps aware of the error in judgement and preferring to lay the matter to rest rather than commenting.

Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Dovid Lau Shlita has released a comment. He began deploring the desecration of the shul, adding “A shul is a holy place for every Jew. These images pain the heart of every Jew”.

Officials in Rabbi Lau office add he plans to contact those involved in this unfortunate incident to request a clarification as to how this was permitted.

The rav adds “education is warranted to teach religious sensitivities regarding holy locations”.

  1. I don’t believe a photo should have been included.

The HOTEl is entirely to blame and since most of the personnel there is ARAB including the head manager, it makes ZERO difference to them if the shul, bingo hall or catering hall is being used for massages.
