Monday, 23 Teves, is day four of the manhunt for Nashat Melhem, the Israeli Arab terrorist who carried out the shooting attack in a Dizengoff Street pub in Tel Aviv on erev Shabbos. Two people were murdered in that attack.

It was reported on Monday, 23 Teves, that a second brother of Nashat was arrested and in ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) custody. He will be remanded in the Haifa Magistrate Court.

The police presence in the city remains unprecedented as is security for schools. Education Minister Naftali Bennett visited the area on Sunday, calling on parents not to be afraid and to permit their children to attend school

According to police in the Dizengoff District, the terrorist traveled north following the pub attack and got into the taxi of Amin Shaban and then traveled on Derech Namir. Then he murdered Shaban near the Mandarin Hotel and abandoned the vehicle. Police add that at present, while security remains high in an ongoing effort to apprehend the terrorist, there is no reason for anyone to change the routine. That said, the public is urged to report anything and everything suspicious to police.

In an interview with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said he prefers to refrain from reporting too much for they do not want to give the terrorist leads regarding what police know. He added that at present there is no reason to believe the terrorist is still in the Tel Aviv area.

The cell phone belonging to the terrorist, Nashat Melhem was found in Ramat Aviv, in the northern city not too long after the attack on Friday, 20 Teves, recovered by a student who took it home.

When she turned it on, a number of Arabic-speaking calls came in. The student and her father believed the phone belonged to an Arab worker who would likely be back on Sunday looking for it when he returned to work. When the two saw the news later in the day, identifying the terrorist as an Israeli Arab, they notified police about the cell phone.

It has since been learned that Nashat had been employed in Ramat Aviv during recent months.
