Despite a request from Mrs. Sara Netanyahu’s attorney to close the case against his client, Israel Police are now moving ahead and plan to question Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s wife ‘under caution’, which generally means there is sufficient evidence in the case against a suspect and a criminal indictment is likely. The case pertains to alleged illegal activities in the running of the Prime Minister’s Residence. The allegations include false billing, that expenses for the couple’s private home in Caesarea were billed to the Prime Minister’s Residence as if they were business related when in fact this was not so.

Police actually have been seeking to question Mrs. Netanyahu ‘under warning’ for a number of months. The case, which was only an unofficial probe, became an official investigation in July 2015 as police felt the evidence was mounting. Two persons were already questioned ‘under warning’ including Ezra Seidoff, who ran the official residence and was responsible for making such payments. In addition, electrician Eli Fahima was questioned for he allegedly did private work for the couple, which was billed to the Prime Minister’s Residence.

Yediot Achronot reports that Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has given his okay for the official investigation and summoning Mrs. Netanyahu for questioning.
