Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan has taken preliminary steps towards relaxing restrictions for chareidim living in chareidi communities who served in the IDF and wish to receive a handgun permit. Erdan explained it is clear that during this ongoing wave of Islamic terror, many chareidim have been targeted.
“This initiative will provide a response to the fact there are few people with weapons in chareidi areas”. Erdan stressed that properly trained civilians significantly contribute to fighting terrorism.
The Nachal Chareidi nonprofit is preparing a list of its former soldiers currently living in chareidi communities to assist expediting the process. This list will be given to Israel Police.
