Yesterday, State Police Sergeant Sean Boag delivered a baby girl on the side of northbound express lanes of the Garden State Parkway while on his way home from work.
The expecting Lakewood couple were on their way to a hospital in New Brunswick on Friday when the baby decided she would not wait any longer. The husband pulled his Toyota Camry off to the side of the road and called 911 for assistance.
At 3:58 p.m., Sergeant Boag arrived at scene after hearing a dispatcher’s transmission requesting a trooper’s assistance with a woman who was going into labor on the side of the Parkway at milepost 110. Since he was close to where they were stopped, he was able to arrive within minutes of the initial call.
At 4:02 p.m., the expecting mother delivered a healthy baby girl with Sergeant Boag’s assistance. Mom and baby were transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank where they were last reported as doing well. Sergeant Boag was commended for his quick response and decisive actions, which helped keep everyone safe.

mazal tov! lots of nachas.
Mazel tov. For the record, this would never happen if the moran running Monmouth MC (the former Kimball Hospital building) would build a brand new maternity ward (and any other wings that needs to aong with it) along with top of the line docs. Lakewood is only growing, there would, B”H, almost never be a “low birthrate”. It is one of the most worthy investments out there! There are so many risks with traveling all the way to Monmouth MC in JC (and even JSMC).
Correction: Monmouth MC in Longbranch.
FYI – the whole reason that they closed KMC maternity, is because the Oolam went elsewhere! How did you become the know-it-all?
