Fatalities caused by reckless driving are on the rise as cops fail to enforce the law, a report due out today by Transportation Alternatives claims.
The advocacy group found that police are not writing tickets for violations like speeding, running red lights and failure to yield.
Failure to enforce traffic safety regulations has led to a spike in fatal crashes, according to the report.
A chronic speeding driver is likely to be ticketed once every 35 years, the report found.
The group plans to release the report on the steps of City Hall, and will be joined by victims of traffic accidents and safety experts.
They will call for “sweeping reforms,” including the creation of an Office of Road Safety.

“A chronic speeding driver is likely to be ticketed once every 35 years, the report found.”
I find that statement to be unbelieveable.

Could some safe driver accidents be the result of all too common intimidation/spooking by [tail-gating, horn honking, brights flashing] AGGRESSIVE drivers?
