Shomron Regional Council director Gershon Mesika confirmed on Sunday that he received a letter from the IDF Civil Administration regarding “11 illegal structures” within the confines of his jurisdiction.
Mesika repeated numerous times that it is simply “absurd”, pointing out the Civil Administration “has the time, resources and manpower” to concentrate on illegal construction in Yehuda and Shomron while turning a blind eye to thousands of illegal homes in the Arab sector of the same areas.
He detailed that some of the 11 “illegal structures” detailed in the letter include a pit that was dug by youths as the beginning of a mikva in Itamar and a kiddy pool in Har Bracha. Mesika continued to express amazement regarding the frequency of visits from Civil Administration officials and tenacious obsessive fashion in which they are monitoring “illegal construction”, a pool for children and a pit for a mikva.
Mesika added that the High Court of Justice has issued stop-work orders and other legal verdicts against nine homes that were under construction in the community of Rechalim. Mesika explained he took the wording of the High Court case addressing the Rechalim homes and replaced the name “Rechalim” with the names of Arab areas and the numbers of buildings with the appropriate numbers. The result was not the same and the court did not issue restraining orders, pointing out the “clear discriminatory agenda of the court and system” he explained.
Right-wingers who voted for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu are angered by his government’s policies, explaining his mandate was based on expanding yishuvim not dismantling them. His opponents in the right-wing camp state that there are no surprises here, reminding voters it was Netanyahu in his last tenure as prime minister who handed over Chevron to the PA and signed the Wye Agreement, explaining in essence he is void of ideology and has never been true to Eretz Yisrael but seeks to advance his own standing in the international political community.

If a zionist doesn’t have a permit from the zionist government, that how can he claim he can do something. If he maintains the Israeli government has no authority over the West Bank, he is denying his own zionist ideology, and supporting the Arab position that Israel is a temporary occupying power rather than the sovereign.
The Arabs also deny the legitimacy of the Israeli government, and in areas that the Israeli government has no plans to keep under Israeli control, it is logical they should ignore that their own laws are being violated.
I cannot understand the reasoning of the Israeli government. I can only think that the “people who are in charge” are not religious yet. They do not have the feeling for our homeland. If they had more religious feelings then they would surely rule the “Arab-controlled territory” with an iron fist. That means that the Arabs should not be free to build wherever and whenever they please, without any permits. It is not their land/territory, it belongs to Israel. Doesn’t the Israeli government recognize that principle? Why do Jewish Israeli citizens need permits to build and not the Arabs?
