In actuality, nothing has changed from the perspective of PA (Palestinian Authority) Chairman Abu Mazen, who once again reiterated he is unwilling to step down from demands that so-called PA refugees be entitled to return to Israel in any treaty signed with Israel.
In a weekend interview with the Egyptian media, the PA leader, who is viewed by America and Israel as the moderate, stated he is unwilling to compromise on any land in Yehuda and Shomron, which is to become the Palestinian state, adding he also demands land contiguity between Yehuda, Shomron and Gaza, as well as the “Palestinian right of return”, a move that has been reject by all Israeli leaders, aware of the dire demographic ramifications of such a process, the destruction of the State of Israel.
Abu Mazen announced that he has also sent a letter to US President Barak Obama, citing his insistence that a Palestinian state be established on the pre-1967 borders formula, demanding a total Israeli retreat from all areas liberated in the June 1967 Six Day War. He calls on the White House to continue pressuring Israel towards fulfilling this objective.
Detailing the PA leader’s position in greater detail was Dr. Saeb Erekat, a top PA negotiator, who stated the PA will not accept even a “limited settler presence” in any areas designated to become the Palestinian state.
