The following is via OnlySimchas.com:
The Wells Fargo Bank in Cedarhurst was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday morning right before Chanukah.
The robbery happened at about 9:15 in the morning. The bank is located at 464 Central Avenue and is surrounded by shops that cater to a Jewish clientele.
Generally speaking banks are not open on Sundays, however, many banks in the Five Towns community are open to accommodate their Orthodox Jewish clientele.
There were five employees of the bank on duty at the time, but no one was injured.
Police said in a news release that a man with a silver handgun had robbed the bank.
Nassau County police are seeking the public’s assistance in finding the robber.
It is likely that the robber had visited before to know that the bank was open on Sunday. Most Wells Fargo branches are closed on Sundays.
