Yariv Oppenheim, who heads the radical left-wing Peace Now organization, believes the state attorney general should bring charges against the so-called Hilltop Youth, the right-wing youths who live in outposts and in many cases, have broken away from standard family-structured living, committed to settling the land, uncompromising in their determination.
Peace Now is calling on Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to order an investigation into the leaders and members of the Land of Israel Faithful organization, responsible for the hilltop youths’ activities.
Oppenheim also contends that the illegal actions of the youths are responsible for busying IDF troops to address the outposts and related activities, pulling soldiers away from standard security operations.
In response, the Chomesh First organization accuses Peace Now of constantly badgering the attorney general and his staff, thereby guilty of busying them from addressing criminal and other matters, obsessed with their disdain for yishuvim and the right-wing nationalists.
A committee representing Shomron residents released a message on Friday morning that the hilltop youths should receive the Presidential Prize for their activities.
