BDE another pillar of Polish yiddishkeit has fallen lo oleinu. Der Eibishter has not forsaken us. He has left Rav Grubner with a set of doiros yeshorim mevorochim who stand at the forefront of Klal Yisroel and who are marbitzei Torah borabim, following in Rav Grubner Ztzl’s eminent footsteps.
He was not the “Rav of Detroit.” More accurately, he was a leading rabbi in Detroit. He was well respected for his work on the Vaad Harabanim. Is there to be no service in Detroit?
BDE. He in fact shared the mantle of leadership of the COR Vaad – Detroit with Rabbi Leizer Levin ZTL. I knew him personally and he was a wonderful, modest person. He would give you all the time in the world to discuss whatever was on your mind. His other contemporaries were Rav A”L Bakst ZTL, R’ Joshua Sperka Z”L, R’ Chaim Deutsch Z”L, R’ S”H Prero Z”L and Rav Notis Z”L.

he was also the aleph bais rebbe from ( yibadel l’chaim toivim) the hiientiga gerrer rebbe shlita
Boruch Dayan HaEmmes! Zoll Zyne P’tira Zyne Ah Kaporoh Faar Unz Alleh!
I was once at a Sheva Brachos where he spoke and recounted an episode/din Torah that he had to paaskin!
A 100 year old man and his 98 year old wife (almost certain of these ages)took their son to the Rov with a complaint that he doesn’t visit them often enough! Kibud Av v’Eim obligates him to visit his parents. The son complained to Rav Grubner, now ztz”l, that he’s 80 years of age, his legs bother him, he has arthritis and can’t come as often as he’s like! He added, “I’m an old man, and can’t move as easily any more!”
The Rov concluded his drasha with a b’racha that only such disagreements be the problems that Rabbonim have to deal with!
He was so Geshmaak! Always with a smile! Had a real Geshmaak in Yiddishkite and with Yidden, the Am Hanivchar!
Although he was very elderly of late, we were still lucky to have him in our midst!
Y’hi Zichro Boruch!
BDE. My heart and love goes out to Kriendy, Chavie, Surie and Estie, and the entire mishpacha.
