In response to reports that Israel is picking up naval activity in the Eilat area, including submarine deployment, a “security source” is being quoted by the mainstream media dismissing such a reality. The statement comes in response to weekend reports that a Dolphin submarine was being stationed in the Suez Canal last month.
The weekend report spoke of increased naval activity in Eilat, stating a Dolphin submarine was heading from the Suez Canal area to the Red Sea. Quoting an eyewitness report, the vessel docked briefly in the Port of Eilat before moving on.
Reports are being played down that a Dolphin deployment in advance of a possible military conflict with Iran. The anonymous source adds that a submarine needs care and maintenance and the navy at present lacks the logistical ability of maintaining such a vessel in the Eilat area.

The only reliable reports as to what submarines are doing are made by museums (Chicago has a German one whose location is well known, Baltimore has an intact American submarine in its Inner Harbor, etc.). Submarines are by definition “secret” weapons and any “news” report on its location and use should be assumed to be pure speculation.
