A horrific crash with a vehicle nearly destroyed has left police searching for the driver.
This morning at 2:43 am, Ramapo Police responded to Route 45, north of Williams Avenue for reports of a head-on collision with an empty Monsey Trails coach bus.
The bus driver sustained minor injuries. Remarkably, the driver of the SUV fled the scene prior to police arrival. Fearing the driver may have been seriously injured , an extensive search was done of the area to locate the driver.
Ramapo Police were being assisted by the Rockland Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Spring Valley Police and the Hillcrest Fire Dept. in the search effort. Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps responded to scene for medical assistance.
RPD’s Accident Investigation Unit is currently working this case.
The road was closed in both directions between Williams Avenue and Tioken Road for accident investigation for several hours. It has since been reopened.
