Acting Police Commissioners Bentzi Sau, who has been running Israel Police during the wave of Islamic terror that began on erev Rosh Hashanah 5776, announced on Sunday 17 Kislev that he will not remain on the force but prefers to retire after 38 years of service.

Police Commissioner Roni Alshich was hoping to persuade Sau to remain on as his deputy, but Sau is declined the offer.

Sau has agreed to remain on the force until the end of 2015 to assist Alshich in assuming his new command.
