On the morning of Monday 11 Kislev, an Arab terrorist infiltrated the area of Chomesh, one of the four Jewish communities in the Northern Shomron destroyed during the Expulsion of summer 2005 in which all 21 Gush Katif communities were also destroyed.
He intentionally drove his car into a Yeshivat Chomesh student who was wounded and hospitalized.
Several hours later police and army forces raided Chomesh with the aim of detaining Yeshivat Chomesh students. Since the Expulsion, Yeshivat Chomesh has continuously held classes in some of Chomesh’s many caves and also in tents which students brought to the site.
Honenu’s headquarters received a report of a chase during the above-mentioned raid after which five yeshiva students were detained. One of the detainees is the brother of the wounded student who is hospitalized in Beilinson Hospital.
Upon receiving the news of the detention, Honenu Attorney Adi Kedar began to verify its cause. It is most likely that the detainees were detained for violating the Disengagement Law which forbids staying on the sites of the destroyed Gush Katif and Northern Shomron communities.
Photo: A day after the car ramming attack, Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and Shomron rabbonim Elyakim Levanon Shlita and Rabbi David Dudkevitz invited talmidim to the yeshiva for a chizuk and they distributed certificates of appreciation for their ongoing efforts to be mechazeik Am Yisrael and Chomesh in particular.
