Ichud (United) Hatzalah reports that 56 new ambucycles will be hitting the streets of Israel as the EMS organization’s call volume continues to increase during this wave of Islamic terror. The ambucycles were bought as a result of fundraising that resulted in raising over NIS 7 million.
The units will be added to the nationwide fleet, used by EMTs, paramedics and physicians who respond to emergency calls. Each vehicle is of course equipped with the appropriate items commensurate with the responder’s level of expertise including the basics; first aid bag, oxygen, and a semi-automated defibrillator. Paramedics and physicians of course are equipped with pharmaceuticals and other apparatus for advanced life-support pre-hospital care.
The EMS organization today numbers over 2,500 volunteers around Israel, responding to calls 24/7. Ichud Hatzalah does not charge for its service. Dispatchers rely on a state-of-the-art GPS based dispatch system that assigns the calls to the closest appropriately trained on-call units.
