Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz has allocated NIS 20 million for increased traffic enforcement on the nation’s roadways. The decision was announced during a meeting on Sunday which included the minister, the minister of public security, road safety council officials and Israel Police traffic enforcement officials. The decision will permit purchasing an additional 85 traffic patrol police vehicles.
Katz stated he views the police enforcement aspect of road safety as a major deterrence to traffic offenses, thereby saving lives and reducing the number of road-related injuries.
