The Jerusalem Prosecutor’s Office filed a civil suit in the amount of NIS 23,368 against three Arab youths who threw rocks at the Jerusalem light rail which resulted in damage. The suit was filed to compel them to reimburse the state for the damages caused by them in the rock attacks.
Since July 2014, the state has been dealing with hundreds of cases of rock-throwing against the light raid in the capital. The state is hopeful that in addition to serving as a deterrent, the lawsuits to collect damages from the youths and families will assist in recouping the large sums of money paid to CityPass, the light rail operator.
CityPass officials released a statement praising new policy, adding these attacks are extremely serious and must be regarded as such.
