Once again, rumors are circulating in Knesset of the impending retirement of Chaim Ramon of Kadima, a rumor that has made the round in the past as well. This time however, Kadima officials are signaling that Ramon is actually going to leave politics.
According to a HaMevaser report, Ramon has reached an agreement with Kadima leader that he will head the Kadima Council, a position that demands he take leave of Knesset.
Ramon, who entered the Knesset in 1984, is among the veteran members in the Kadima party. During his career, he has held senior cabinet posts. In the last election, he only succeeded in landing the 17th slot on the party roster, not a realistic slot for a cabinet post even if Kadima enters the government.
