Hamas representative in Lebanon Osama Hamdan on Thursday reiterated Hamas’ position, stating “Shalit will not see the light of day until Israel releases the prisoners”, referring to the list of prisoners submitted to Israel by the terror organization.
He added that three years have passed since Shalit was taken prisoner, and despite ongoing efforts, Israel has not succeeded in ascertaining the location where he is being held, stating with confidence they will not succeed in the future.
Hamdan added that during the Olmert administration, “Israel made progress towards our position but then, for unknown reasons, backed off”. Hamdan is confident that ultimately, to obtain Shalit’s release, Israel will have to comply with Hamas’ demands.
“Shalit was taken prisoner while fighting against us. It then became a much broader situation, Palestinian nationalistic in nature, realizing he will be used towards obtaining the release of Palestinian prisoners”.
“Shalit will not see the light of day until our prisoners seek the light of day”.
Other Hamas spokespersons warned that if Israel continues on the present track Shalit will become the next Ron Arad.

they ought to show those louses that we are willing to fight dirty as well. unfortunately all they seem to be able to do is offer more concessions for nothin in return other than more violence
we should be asking them for some kind of proof that he is still alive, since they don’t allow even the red crxss to see him. It would make ra’ash B’shamaiim if his family started keeping mitzvot, his father would learn 2 hours a day, family keep shabbat, kashrut & tzniut. It would be an amazing display of kiddush HaSh-m that his release after teshuva would bring so many of HaSh-m’s children back home, B’H!
Taking a moral high-ground will not produce victory; it will ensure a loss. And in the case of our conflict with our enemies loss = dessimation. That is not an option. There is no room for sensibilities that are easily offended or for cowering in response to world condemnation (look at all the humanitarians who run the umos ha’olam who would be doing the condeming). We have to get down, in the gutter, and fight an enemy that will nor settle or compromise.
Israel must take key palestinians captive and use their execution as leverage. As the Islamo-nazis see indecision and capitulation in us (as they already see in America’s leadership) they will continue to advance on us with terror tactics, kidnapping, murder and eventual anihilation. They don’t see their victory as making us afraid or even making us leave our land. Their end-point for victory is to make us all dead.
From what I’ve heard from those in the know, the army know precisely where he is, down to the exact room; however the place is so highly secured and booby trapped that they can’t get near.
#2, Elisha, it’s so easy to look at others to do teshuva. If all of us would do more mitzvos or do a little teshuva in Gilad Shalit’s zechus, I’m sure it would help. So are you ready to show the way?
#5 yes- I have taken one more thing that is hard for me to change for the safety of klal Yisroel and for the release of our dear Gilad. How about you?
If we go by previous “concessions”, we have given more land for peace……….. IS THERE PEACE???? If we release these murderers………WILL THEY RETURN SHALIT????
