Once it became apparent that the amended draft law cannot pass before the vote on the state budget, due to logistical reasons, the Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisrael in Eretz Yisroel met to discuss the promise given by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Mr. Netanyahu promises the amended draft law backed by the chareidi parties will be passed into law by Wednesday, 13 Kislev, a few days following the state budget. The admorim in their meeting on Sunday, 3 Kislev, accepted the timetable and are willing to take the prime minister’s word.
Contrary to this opinion, MK Moshe Gafne is unwilling to accept the timetable and announced the draft bill must be passed by Monday, 11 Kislev. Gafne explains that permitting the bill to wait until Wednesday will simply result in two additional days of incitement against the chareidi tzibur in the media. He explains that from a logistical standpoint, the bill can be passed into law by Monday.
