An NYPD Officer who is well known to the Jewish community in Flatbush will be deeply missed, after he was transferred to another area of the police department.
Detective Dominick Scotto, who was a fixture in the 70th Precinct for close to 25 years has been transferred to the office of the NYPD Chief Of Department in police headquarters in Manhattan.
Dominick served the community diligently, and with tremendous dedication and devotion, always working hard during Jewish holidays to ensure that there would be a strong police presence at Synagogues.
Detective Scotto was at every major crime scene in the 70 Precinct for more than two decades, and took great pride in helping the community with street closures for Purim, Lag Baomer, and the hundreds upon hundreds of Hachnosas Sifrei Torah over the years.
Always quick with his humorous quips and friendly personality, Dominick was friends with hundreds of community members, and used his personality to quickly defuse many situations in many communities that the 70 Precinct patrols (Midwood, Flatbush, Ditmas Park etc).
Dominick also worked closely with Flatbush Shomrim since the organization was founded, as well as working closely with Flatbush Hatzolah.
His daily presence will be greatly missed by all, but his friends wish him well, and congratulate him on his appointment in his prominent new position.

Dominick will certainly be missed at the 70, but I’m sure he’ll find a way to spend some time in Brooklyn while working for the Chief of Department. Someone in the NYPD recognized his talent even though he wasn’t a test taker. Good luck in your new assignment, Dominick!
