Google Witnesses Will Not Come to Israel for Court Hearing at Present Due to Security Situation


gooChannel 2 News Online reports the employees of Google who are scheduled to appear in court pertaining to a lawsuit on November 30th and December 1st have asked for a postponement due to the security situation in Israel. The case is being heard in the Tel Aviv District Court. Alternatively, they ask if the court would permit a video teleconference instead of a personal appearance. The lawsuit is against Google, pertaining to a plaintiff who feels he has not received what he is entitlement from Google AdSense ads.

The attorney representing the two Google employees in Ireland speaks of different nations that have published travel alerts regarding Israel, including the Ireland Foreign Ministry.

Attorney Guy Ofir who represents the plaintiff opines there are more knife involved situations in both the United States and Ireland than in Israel in proportion to their populations, but in those countries these acts by and large escape the media.

Justice Michael Tamir on Wednesday, 29 Cheshvan ruled the Google employees do not have to come and he will permit video conferencing but Google will have to absorb the costs involved.
