Gaza resident 19-year-old Tarsa Tamar was sentenced to 19 years in prison by the Beersheva District Court on Monday on multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder pertaining to rocket attacks, membership in a terrorist organization, weapons and other related charges. He was also linked to an attack in the summer of 2006, when terrorists placed a 15kg bomb near the border fence, intended to kill IDF soldiers.
The three justice panel in the verdict pointed out the severity of his crimes, intending to compromise state security and kill civilians and military personnel alike.
The court also stated that in addition to the severity of the crimes, a harsh sentence is required as a deterrence to continued rocket attacks into Israel.
