One cannot avoid the irony of the news that Israel today, Tuesday, is releasing senior Hamas official, Dr. Aziz Dweq, a resident of a PA area of Chevron. He served almost three years in an Israeli prison after being convicted of crimes and Israeli legal experts state they have no grounds to hold him, not even under administrative detention.
Dweq was among Hamas parliamentarians abducted by Israel following the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit three years ago. He is being released on Tuesday Israel Radio reports. Others have also been released since taken into Israeli custody.
Opponents are angered over the audacity that he is being released while the nation marks three years of captivity of Gilad Shalit, who has not even been permitted a visit from a humanitarian organization. Government legal officials insist there are no grounds to hold him, but the opponents remind them, without success, that Jews have been held in administrative detention as well as Arabs when the need presented itself.
Legal experts explain the Hamas official does not “pose an immediate threat” and therefore, even the administrative detention is not an option.

No grounds to hold him on?!?!?!?! He is a leader of a terrorist organization whose goal is to kill Jews and destroy the country!!! If that is not grounds to keep him in prison… HaSh-m yirachaym!
Don’t discount the possibility that something is going on behind the scenes. Netanyahu’s speech did make an impression. Abbas and Fayed jumped against it too soon and too sharply. One never knows if they may try to resolve the Shalit crisis as a way of getting back on Obama’s good side.
Fine. If there are no legal reasons to hold him, then we should not hold him any longer. Execute him. Bury him with a dead pig in the same box. That gesture seems to be the only thing that Moslems fear. If two days later, Gilad Shalit is still not released, execute another palestinian prisoner. Every two days yet another palestinian should be executed.
If anyone is appalled by this plan of action, reserve your superior sensibilities for the captives of another nation. Our people are treated without humanity, without decency, and without concern for the Geneva convention or any other international agreement. Pretend that Gilad Shalit was your son (or brother or father…). Forget your so-called scrupels. What would you want done then. At some point we all have to say ENOUGH!
gary l -if you think the arabs care if you kill their ppl your makin a mistake!!!they kill their own ppl!!!! anyway the first thing theyll do is harm shalit when isreal kills their ppl every 2 days!!! sorry=not smart!!!
Dear Believer: I agree that the arabs don’t care about the lives of their fellow arabs or other muslims. But, what does make them quake in their sandels is the pig part. A cadaver with a side of bacon is an infamnia that they cannot stomach. A show of hesitation is taken as a show of weakness. Firmness and readiness to act is what they need to see. If ANYTHING will move them is is only force and double pay-back (2 eyes for an eye). Assuming Gilad Shalit is still alive.
The underlying problem is that the non-frum government is insecure in their belief that the land is truly ours. If one IS insecure in that belief it follows that one is wish-washy as to how to treat our enemies, since after all (in the eyes of such people) maybe they (the enemy) are right. Rav Kahane ztzvk”l spoke about this Jewish dementia over 20 years ago, and it applies as much or more today.
