How much does the dati community use the internet to view television and movies? According to a poll conducted by the Midgam Company, published in Kalkalist, 45% of the dati leumi in Israel uses the internet for this viewing following by the chareidim with 33% and the non-religious community with 30%.
It is explained that while some may be surprised, the results are actually not surprising since the chareidi and dati leumi communities are less likely to have a television than the non-religious community.
Prof. Yoel Cohen explains we learn from this that the largest user of the internet for watching TV is the dati leumi community. Cohen, from the Ariel University School of Communications adds the dati leumi community is more educated and therefore, uses the internet and computer more.
The study shows the chareidi community also needs the internet for content, with Prof. Cohen explaining the chareidi rabbonim failed to prevent its tzibur from accessing the internet for content and they do not control the content of their kehilla.
The poll was conducted ahead of the entry to the NETFLIX Company in Israel. This is a company that enables watching TV and movies via the internet anytime and anywhere for a monthly fee.
The study also reveals Israelis are unwilling to pay more than NIS 20 monthly for internet content.

The real question is, what percentage of chareidim are going to actually be interviewed for a survey on movie watching?
Watching a video of the wedding of Rav Edelstein’s einikle, on Yeshiva World, and with a good filter installed, would probably count as “watching movies on the Internet” in the survey, which like any secular survey of the chareidi tzibur, is completely unreliable.
They are dying to report that “chareidi rabbonim failed to prevent its tzibur from accessing the internet for content” so they devise a survey that “proves” just that.
I’m intrigued as to how these figures were obtained.
The fact is that assuming these figures are indeed correct it’s a sad indication of the lack of respect for and emunas chachomim their is. None of the rabbonim permit the use of Internet to watch movies.
These chareidim are people that associate themselves as chareidim meaning they’re drummer than dati (or think they are at least)

Sorry guys but the survey only has one surprise for me and that is that the non-religious community only polls in at 30%. As one who mixes extensively in haredi circles, and hears what they talk about, I can very easily believe that one in three haredim use the Internet for watching movies. And yes watching a video of the wedding of Rav Edelstein’s einikle, on Yeshiva World, and with a good filter installed, is “watching movies on the Internet”. None of the haredi Rabbonim permit the use of the Internet to watch movies, and that includes a movie of Rav Edelstein’s einikle. Indeed most prohibit the viewing of movies, including such as those of Rav Edelstein’s einikelach, completely. The war against the Internet and smartphones has essentially been lost. The proof of this is not from a secular survey but the fact that “the Rabbonim” are coming out with Kol Koreis against the Internet and smartphones with increasing virulence and regularity. That is certain proof that the Internet and smartphones are endemic in the haredi community.
