Comptroller: Claims Down Against NYPD, Other Agencies

nypdrgA new report by Comptroller Scott Stringer says that personal injury claims against the New York City Police Department have declined sharply.

The report, which was issued Wednesday, shows that claims against the NYPD have fallen nearly 13 percent during the past year.

Stringer on Wednesday praised the department for emphasizing a culture of restraint for its officers.

The ClaimStat report also found that the number of claims have fallen against the Development of Environmental Protection and the Parks Department.

Claims against the city’s hospital corporation and the Sanitation Department have increased, however.

The city budget for fiscal year 2016 sets aside $710 million to pay settlements and judgments from lawsuits filed against the city.
