A citizen arrested at the Rishon L’Tzion stabbing attack on Monday, 20 Cheshvan was remanded and held over in jail until Wednesday by the Petach Tikvah Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 21 Cheshvan. The court complied with a police request to keep the man behind bars as the investigation continues. He allegedly tried hitting the terrorist with a wooden plank after the terrorist had already been neutralized.
The terrorist stabbed and seriously wounded a 70-year-old man. Pedestrians then pounced on him and restrained him. There were shouts of “death to Arabs” as the angry crowd gathered.
Police told the court the suspect got into an altercation with officers at the scene who tried to prevent him from striking the terrorist with the plan and one policeman was hit in his face and sustained light injuries. Justice Erez Nurieli decided to extend the suspect’s remand and the court will weigh his release on bail with restrictions at the next hearing.
