[PHOTO LINK BELOW] A beautiful kiddush hashem took place yesterday on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. There was a Kesivas Sefer Torah, in room H137 of the Capitol. The Sefer Torah is being donated to MesorahDC for their outreach explanatory services at the newly renovated and revitalized 100 yr old, Sixth and I Shul. MesorahDC has helped breathe new life into this shul,as well as the DC area, with their beginner services and Jewish enrichment classes.that are attracting hundreds of young professionals to become more connected with their Torah roots.
The Kesivah was hosted by Congressman Eric Cantor, the Republican Whip and Congressman Steny Hoyer, the Democratic Majority Leader. There were over 25 congressmen and senators that participated in the event and the speakers included Arlen Specter, Eric Cantor, Steny Hoyer, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, Rabbi Nate Segal, and Rabbi Zvi Teitelbaum, the director of MesorahDC.

Rabbi Teitelbaum is a brother-in-law of the Boyaner Rebbe. He is a big talmid chochom, a wonderful speaker, and is doing an incredible job at 6th and I.

A shul in downtown DC is nice (though maybe it would be more convenient if it were at Union Station).
A sukkah on Capital Hill would also be useful.
It was an amazing event!
Mesorah DC has a most amazing team working together to spread yiddishkeit in Washington DC.
