President Reuven Rivlin on Sunday, 28 Tishrei President Reuven Rivlin made a shiva visit to the family of IDF Cpl. Rav Aaron Benita HY”D, who was murdered near Shas Shechem during Sukkos.

The president met with the parents, Mr. Michael and Mrs. Aliza Benita and inquired as to the condition of the widow, Mrs. Adele Benita, who continues to recover in a Jerusalem hospital.

The parents spoke to the president about their aliyah and the desire to live in Israel that brought them here. Mr. Benita explained his son HY”D saw living in Eretz Yisrael as a shlichus and a mitzvah.

Mrs. Benita explained Aaron was their sixth son, born in France, and the only of her children born at home, always happy and never cried. “I davened that there will be peace in the world. Such a fine young boy, sweet. I remember how he would go to kindergarten with such simcha and dancing, always singing me the songs he learned”.

The President listened and said, “We are strong, and our country is strong, and no one can deter us. We returned to our land out of a love for our land, and in order to build and be built up in it. We are a strong democracy, and all those who wish us evil – cannot harm this.”
