As trial balloons continue to float regarding talks between Jerusalem and Damascus, with Syria remaining firm in her demand for a total and unconditional Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights as a precondition, ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) Director Yuval Diskin on Sunday told cabinet ministers that Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad is more of an extremist than Hamas in Gaza.

Diskin briefed ministers during a weekly cabinet meeting, stressing the Syrian administration is more extreme than the Hamas military wing, citing the administration’s belligerent attitude towards Israel.

The intelligence chief added that Hamas is pleased with the current tranquility, suing the time to restock and prepare for the next round of warfare.
