Thousands of police will be on duty throughout Yerushalayim over Shavuos, with an emphasis placed in and around the Old City, especially around Damascus Gate and the so-called Muslim Quarter, where thousands of thousands of yidden will walk making their way to and from the Kosel.

Tens of thousands of mispalalim will be on hand for the Shavuos morning neitz minyan, and the entire night preceding it.

Rabbonim Shlita call on those planning to make their way to the Kosel to remember rules of tznius, to walk in separate groups. Rabbanim tried to obtain permits for a men-only route to the Kosel, but police rejected the request.

Rabbonim wanted only men to enter via Damascus Gate and to permit women to enter from Jaffa Gate. The rabbonim also felt that Damascus Gate (Shar Shechem) is closer to the men’s section while Jaffe Gate is closer to the women’s area but police declined the request.
