One of the decisions approved during the Wednesday 24 Tishrei security briefing headed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is to place metal detectors at gates to Jerusalem’s Old City in light of the sharp increase in terror attacks. Persons heading to the Kosel and other areas of the Old City are advised to check the situation with one’s posek regarding entering the area on Shabbos.
According to the Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) report, the metal detectors was among a number of ideas placed before the prime minister during the briefing in the hope of bringing an end to the sharp increase in Islamic terror. An emphasis will be placed on areas where attacks have occurred, which will obviously include Shar Shechem.
