A father who was swimming on a separate Ashkelon beach with his 11-year-old son R”L drowned on Tuesday. The chareidi family of four children arrived with their father on the separate beach to relax and enjoy the tranquil weather. The father and the 11-year-old entered the water while the other three children opted to remain outside.

The father realized the son was being swept away by the tide and did everything he could to save him. Other people in the area saw what was taking place and immediately entered the water in an effort to save the two, who were already unresponsive. Resuscitation efforts were started on the shore.

The physician on the ambulance pronounced the father dead en route to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. The son’s condition is reportedly improving.
