Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and the head of the Jerusalem PTA, Paz Cohen, announced on Tuesday, 23 Tishrei that they will gradually strike the city’s education system beginning on Thursday, 25 Tishrei if the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Education do not allocate the funds necessary to provide adequate security for the schools in the capital.
In stage one of the strike, beginning on Thursday; all schools above elementary school will strike and this strike will be expanded as required until a solution to the problem is found. They insist the current situation in which schools that are supposed to have security do not mustn’t continue, especially at this time when the city is in the midst of a sharp increase in Islamic violence and terror attacks.
Seeking to drive the point home, the mayor on Tuesday was seen walking around with a weapon. As the license shows, the mayor is authorized to carry a Glock 23 pistol.
