Israel Responds to The PA Leader’s Address to the UN

abasThe content of PA Chairman Abu Mazen’s address to the United Nations General Assembly did not come as a surprise to anyone. His remarks focused on accusations against Israel that include unacceptable actions against al-Aqsa Mosque and Har Habayis and a threat that if Israel continues to ignore her commitments under the Oslo Agreements, the PA (Palestinian Authority) will follow suit. These comments are in line with statements released by Abu Mazen in recent weeks, threatening to declare the Oslo Agreements null and void.

As in the past, the PA leader’s diatribe contained little that reflected the truth and reality, but more words that are embraced by many nations that prefer to view Israel in a negative light, as an aggressor and an occupying power that imprisons PA residents.

In his response to the PA leader’s remarks, prior to his own address before the General Assembly, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated, “Abu Mazen’s speech was deceitful and encourages incitement and lawlessness in the Middle East.

“In contrast to the Palestinians, Israel is strictly maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount and is committed to continuing to do so in accordance with the agreements between us and the Jordanians and the Waqf.

“We expect and call on the [Palestinian] Authority and its leader to act responsibly and accede to the proposal of the Prime Minister of Israel and enter into direct negotiations with Israel without preconditions.

“The fact that he – time and again – has refused to do so is the best possible proof of the fact he does not intend to reach a peace agreement.”

The video shows Ahmad, a Gazan resident praising Neturei Karta while taking part in a march to laud the flying of the PA (Palestinian Authority) flag at the United Nations.
