Dati leumi and chareidi Jerusalem councilmen will on Thursday, the 3rd day of chol hamoed Sukkos in Eretz Yisrael, will march to the Kosel to bring attention to the alarming continued deterioration in security. The councilmen will begin their march at 8:30 AM from the light rail station at Shar Shechem (Damascus Gate) and walk through Shar Shechem to the Kosel.
The dati leumi and chareidi councilmen wish to raise awareness to the unacceptable situation in the Old City as Jews are harassed and attacked by Arabs as they try to make their way to and from the Kosel. It appears the incident that prompted the councilmen to act was the attack against a chareidi father and his sons who were attacked by two Muslim women in the Old City as they were heading back from the Kosel.
Councilman Aryeh King added “In light of the police decision to limit freedom of movement for Jews entering via Shar Shechem to the Kosel, and in light of attacks by Arab men and women against Jews, especially chareidim heading to the Kosel, city councilmen have organized to march in thousands of Jews on chol hamoed to the Kosel”.
King cites the ongoing attacks against Jews in Yerushalayim and the Old City, calling on police and other law enforcement agencies to take the necessary action to restore law and order and safety for mispallalim in the Old City.
