Two IDF soldiers involved in efforts to apprehend wanted suspects throughout Yehuda and Shomron were injured by gunfire in Kalkilye. As the force was approaching a home where a suspect was believed to be, gunfire rang out, injuring the two lightly. They were treated and transported from the scene.
The gunfire directed at the force came from a PA (Palestinian Authority) policeman. IDF Civil Administration officials have called on the PA to conduct an investigation into the incident. The policeman/terrorist was injured by IDF return fire and transported to a PA hospital.
IDF officials are now reporting that it is possible the gunfire was unintentional, possibly “mistaken identity”.
In all, IDF soldiers involved in the counter-terror operations on Wednesday night apprehended 26 suspects.
