Israel Takes a Step to Lighten Restrictions for PA Residents During Muslim Holiday


hhaIDF Coordinator of Activities in the Territories Major-General Yoav Mordecai announces he is taking a number of steps to reduce restrictions on PA (Palestinian Authority) residents during the Muslim Feast of the Sacrifice holiday. The measures listed below are applicable from September 24th to 27th.

The statement to the media reads “In an effort to improve the quality of life for PA residents throughout Yehuda and Shomron, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has approved the following measures for the period of the holiday”.

1. Family visitation for PA residents married to Israelis on September 24th and 25th.

2. Permitting prayers on Har Habayis for residents of Yehuda and Shomron for September 24th and 25th for married men 45-years-old and older and women 30 and older.

3. Permitting family from abroad to visit PA residents in Yehuda and Shomron.

4. Permitting PA residents to travel abroad via Ben-Gurion International Airport.

5. The Rechan Crossing will be open to pedestrians until midnight. The vehicular crossing will be open 24 hours for Israeli Arabs.

6. The Gilboa Crossing will be open for Israeli Arabs until midnight.

7. Commercial crossings will operate until 19:00.

The IDF has informed the relevant PA officials.
