Azkara and Hadracha – The Novominsker Rebbe at the Agudah Dinner

nov.jpgAlthough the annual dinner of Agudath Israel of America draws not only members and supporters of the organization but public and governmental officials from across the political spectrum, the highlight of the evening each year is the address of the Rosh Agudas Yisroel, Rabbi Yaakov Perlow, the Novominsker Rebbe.

At the Agudah’s 87th anniversary dinner this Sunday night, the Rebbe will again deliver words of chizuk and hadracha to the crowd.  A spokesman for the organization said that Rabbi Perlow is expected to speak about the life and legacy of Reb Elya Svei, zt”l, the renowned Philadelphia Rosh HaYeshiva and many years-member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah who was niftar mere weeks ago.  The spokesperson also said that the Rebbe  is also expected to address contemporary societal issues of importance to the Torah-observant world.

Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, executive vice president of Agudath Israel, who will be presiding over his first Agudah dinner in that capacity, expressed his anticipation of hearing the Novominsker Rebbe’s words at the event.  “Even though we at the Agudah are in touch with the Rebbe regarding issues that come up in our day to day work,” he said, “there is something very special, and very educational even to those of us ‘on the inside’ in hearing the Rebbe’s message to the broad tzibbur.”
