Economy Minister Aryeh Deri, who is in charge of approving companies working on Shabbos instructed high tech firms not to take part of the IBC conference in Amsterdam on Shabbos and during Rosh Hashanah but his words were ignored. Ministry officials who were going to assist arranging meetings and other tasks did not take part in the Chilul Shabbos and Yomtov.
Deri had ordered closing the booths on Shabbos and Rosh Hashanah but they went ahead with business as usual ‘The Marker’ reports.
Deri’s office even promised to compensate companies for any loss they might incur by closing on Shabbos and Rosh Hashanah.
