HORRIFIC TRAGEDY: Five Family Members Killed Returning From Meron [UPDATED]


ywbn14.gif5:05PM IL: [ORIGINAL POSTS BELOW] Three children and two adults, all members of one family, were R”L killed on Lag B’Omer afternoon –  in a tragic accident between a bus and a private vehicle on Route 90, the Jordan Valley Road, near Moshav Argamon.

The family was returning from Kever Rashbi in Meron when the accident occurred. One of the children was gravely injured, transported by chopper to the trauma center of Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Another victim was removed from the scene by helicopter as well, listed at Rambam in moderate-to-serious condition. A victim who was injured lightly was taken by MDA ambulance to Ha’emek Hospital in Afula.
 
Zaka volunteer Moshe Treichter explained he and others arrived on the scene and they attempted to resuscitate the five for 30 minutes, but without success, compelling the medical authority on the scene to pronounce four of them dead on the scene. Moshe explains the vehicle was decimated, totally destroyed from the impact of the bus. The damage to the bus appeared less serious by far, with a smashed windshield and some frontal damage.
 
The preliminary police investigation indicates the private vehicle was traveling from north to south and for reasons that are yet unknown, veered into the opposing lane.

EARLIER UPDATE 4:48PM IL: It is now being reported that the death toll in the Jordan Valley Road accident has risen to five – with the Petira of a 4-year-old child R”L. YWN has also learned the victims appear to be from the community of Betar.

FIRST REPORT 2:40PM IL: Four people were R”L killed and at least three others seriously injured in a Tuesday afternoon motor vehicle accident near Moshav Argamon in the Jordan Valley.

Israel Police officials report a bus and private vehicle were involved in the fatal accident – which has taken the lives of two children and two adults R”L. A number of people have been injured, some extremely seriously. The children killed and injured are between the ages of 2-10.

In additional to numerous MDA ambulances, three medevac choppers arrived at the scene on Route 90 (K’vish Ha’Bika).

Additionally, YWN has learned that the victims of the accident are all members of one family. They were returning from Kever Rashbi in Meron.

  1. baruch dayin emes- what a sad story- may this family never know of any more tzar and may they be a maylitz yosher for gantz klal yisroel- and in their schus may moshiach come bimhaira viyameinu amen

  2. We are so amuned to regular tragedy that hashem has to wake us up with outrages tragedy’s. lets take it as a sign to do tshuva and become a better person for the zchus of those 5 neshumos.
