Deputy Minister of Education (Yahadut HaTorah) R’ Meir Porush join those criticizing Pope Benedict XVI who is visiting Israel, accusing the pontiff of “feeding the fires of hate and dispute” by expressing his views on the matter of a two state solution between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
Porush sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman urging them once and for all to send a clear message to the world, to visiting dignitaries, that Eretz Yisrael is rightfully the possession of the Jewish People as it is the Promised Land.
He stressed the need to make such a statement to a visiting dignitary such as Pope Benedict, who represents millions of followers worldwide towards putting an end to statements that we are “occupiers”.
Porush emphasized it is critical that this message is heard in a definitive unabashed tone.

Meir Porush is 100% correct. He has made me proud.
Just if you make statements like that then you need to recognize that you accept the legitimacy of the Jewish state as a Jewish state (with all of it’s warts, no fooling ourselves) and participate in it fully, not just as beggar demanding handouts. (participation in general public discoourse – not just on ‘Haredi’ issues, serving in army, complete economic participation etc. )
