Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat has been working hard since his first term in office to give names to all streets in the eastern capital. The committee in charge of naming streets in recent years learned hundreds of streets in the eastern capital do not have names. The project enlisted the assistance of neighborhood representatives and leaders of the various eastern capital neighborhoods in selecting names.

Following decades of the existing situation the city explains that by the end of 2015, each and every street will have a name, a move that will facilitate life in the realm of receiving mail, services and for emergency responders. The names that were selected by the committee are to be approved at the coming meeting of the city council.
