100s of Jerusalem Chareidi Students Protest Outside City Hall


04Hundreds of girls protested outside Jerusalem City Hall on Wednesday 18 Elul demanding a suitable school building. The girls are students of the Yarim Moshe Elementary & High School which is headed by HaGaon HaRav Ezra Nissan. They carried signs including “Nir Barkat stop the discrimination” and “Yarim Moshe, 500 students in sub conditions and 14 years in solitary”.

A number of parents who reciting slichos took part in the protest. Yarim Moshe is viewed as among the better Sephardi girl’s high school in Yerushalayim. It was established 14 years ago and it is located at 6 Yehudit Street in a residential building. The school is on the first floor and they simply do not have space.

School officials explain the city has promised a building for a number of years but it does not happen. The protestors also directed their message to Councilman Yitzchak Pindrus, who is responsible for education in the city as well. They blame him for failing to act to assist the school too.
