Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to announce his decision in the coming days regarding his selection to replace Ofir Dekel, the man responsible for negotiating the release of Gilad Shalit.

Prime Minister Netanyahu over recent days met with both candidates, IDF Colonel (reserves) Lior Lotan and attorney Pinchas Marinsky, who today represents the Israel Bar Association on the committee for the selection of judges. Both of the candidates have expressed a willingness to accept the position.

The family of the captive soldier and activists working on his behalf are anxious for the prime minister to announce his decision to permit efforts towards obtaining Gilad’s release to resume.
