Among the first to publically congratulate Yaakov Litzman after the Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisrael approved his becoming the Minister of Health was Bayit Yehudi party Naftali Bennett.
Bennett explained he was pleased to hear of the decision, praising Litzman’s performance as deputy and expressing confidence that his “diligence, efficiency and wisdom will benefit citizens of Israel as has been the case in the past”.
To date, Litzman has been serving as Deputy Health Minister with ministerial authority in line with the long-standing policy of gedolei yisrael shlita, who forbid members of the chareidi party to become a cabinet minister. However, a recent High Court of Israel ruling on a petition filed by the Yesh Atid party compelled Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to appoint a full-time Health Minister, a post he was holding to date. As such, the Torah council convened and the admorim decided to permit Litzman to become a cabinet minister due to the current situation.

This does not make sense. There was a long standing איסור of being מתחבר לרשעים ….What changed all of a sudden? Which admor takes upon himself to challenge the psak of ALL GEDOLEI YISROEL for decades? I’m very confused…..What am i missing ?
What changed? Absolutely nothing!! Do you think that anyone was fooled by a “deputy Minister” acting like and doing all the work of a a full Minister. Obviously. if there is such an Isur,it was never enforced. I am also not quite sure what Mechaber LeReshaim means, are you declaring the vast majority of Jews living in Israel as Reshayim? Who gives you or anyone else that authority
