Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat is planning to run for a slot in the Likud Party, Channel 10 News reported on Sunday evening 8 Elul. The report states Barkat has already been meeting with Likud officials on the national level, and this is done with the knowledge of and support of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The mayor has already met with key party officials in a number of cities including Ashdod and Netanya. He hopes to land a senior position on the party roster.
The report states that if PM Netanyahu does not run for prime minister in the next national elections, Barkat plans to run to become the nation’s next prime minister. The report stresses Barkat has informed the prime minister that he will not run against him.

Check out his very impressive record of ACCOMPLISHMENTS as Mayor (and before that in hi-tech). He’s a doer with a vision. I live in Jerusalem and can’t believe what a high energy Mayor he is in getting done what he sets out to do. You see that he really cares about everyone’s quality of life, and his huge projects reflect that. Could be Just what the country needs!
