Yesh Atid party leader MK Yair Lapid announced on Thursday, 28 Menachem Av during a radio interview that he will be a candidate to become Israel’s next prime minister in the next Knesset elections.

Lapid explained “Netanyahu has been prime minister for a long time so for some it is difficult to imagine others in the post but democracy is alive and we must recognize this. These elections will be between the past and the future or between despair and hope. The working premise is that it will be Netanyahu and I”.

“People understand the left-wing will not take the election and the race will be between the right-wing and centrist. It I look at myself it will be Lapid against Netanyahu”.
